Baby's Chocolate Streusel Bars

  • 1-3/4 cup flour
  • 1-1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup cold butter
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • one 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped
Yield : 16 Chocolate Streusel Bars

Preparatioan :

Preheat oven to 350 degress F. 
In a large bowl, combine the flour, powdered sugar, and cocoa powder. 
Cut in butter until the mixture is crumbly. 
Set aside 2 cups of the crumb mixture and press the remaining mixture on the bottom of a 9 x 12 - inchi baking pan. 
Bake for 15 minutes. 
In a large bowl, bear the cream cheese untul fluffy. 
 Gradually beat in the condensed milk until smooth. 
Add the egg and vanilla and mix well. 
Pour the mixture over the baked crust and smooth out. 
Combine the nuts with teh reserved crumb mixture and spreas on the top.
Bake for 25 minutes. Let cool, then cut into bars. 

  • 2-1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar, plus
  • 1 cup butter, cold and cut into cubes
Preheat oven to 350 degrees f. Place flour and sugar in large bowl. Mix with wire whisk. Add cut butter. Use a pastry blend, your fingers or food processor to blend butter into flour/sugar mixture. Dump mixed ingredients into 9x13 pan. Press down with fingers and level-out. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly brown on top. Remove from oven. Cut shortbread into squares and then into triangles while the shortbread is still warm. Sprinkle with sugar, if desired. Cool completely in pan
